Do I Have a Right? Project Directions Objectives: 1. Understand how rights are limited under the constitution. 2. Research landmark Supreme Court Cases that dealt with 1st amendment rights. 3. Create a group presentation that explains how our rights are limited under the Constitution.
Directions: Create a presentation using either 1) Powerpoint 2)SWAY or 3) weebly as a group.
The following needs to be addressed in your presentation:
-- Answers the Essential Question -- Must include at least 10 slides or pages -- Provides specific examples/Supreme Court Cases as proof to your explanation -- Provide visuals, pictures, photos, PRIMARY SOURCE DOCUMENTS!!, video clips, etc -- Contains the 5 parts of an essay - Introduction/thesis, 3 supporting paragraphs, 1 conclusion -- Bibliography of sources used -- Add other "lawyer/firm" touches to the project to make it professional in appearance.
Group Roles: 1) Lawyer - As a lawyer, you are the team leader. This presentation will be used by your Law Firm, "Williams, Wilkerson, & _________(your name)" As a lawyer, you must keep your team working on task and finish the project on time. You are also on quality control, you do not wish to see your Firm diminish and lose clinentel, or more importantly, money. You have a name to upkeep and this presentation can either increase or diminish your Firm with the courts.
2) Design Clerk - As a designer, you have the lead say in how the project will look. Additionally, you also take in everyone's ideas towards the artistic creation of the presentation. You are an expert at Powerpoint, SWAY, or weebly. 3) Paralegal x 2 - Paralegals have a very broad job description. In general, they are there to support lawyers in whatever tasks needed. Many will do research, while some will write legal documents. Most will do fact-checking and correspond with the court and/or the client. Help with the research, help with the design, help with getting the job done!
Rubric (200 point project)
A (200-180)- Project is HIGH QUALITY. It answer the essential question entirely. Contains ALL of the requirements listed above. Project is creative and gets the point across. Project submitted on time.
B (179-160)- Project is of GOOD QUALITY. It answers most of the essential question. Contains MOST of the requirements of the project. Project is creative and mostly gets the point across. Project submitted on time.
C (159-140) -Project is ADEQUATE. It answers SOME of the essential question. Contains SOME of the requirements. Project submitted on time. Offers some creativity.
D (139-120)- Project is INCOMPLETE/INACCURATE. It answer LITTLE of the essential question. Contains FEW of the requirements. Project may be late. Little creativity and/or planning evident.
F (119-0) - Project is INCOMPLETE/INACCURATE or NO COMPLETED. LITTLE or NO attempt made to answer the essential question. Project may be late or Not Turned In.
