1. Explain how innovations in land and water transportation, such as roads, canals, and railroads impacted trade and settlement patterns west.
2. Explain the effects of new technologies and resource use on economic growth, such as factories, machinery, roads, and the telegraph.
3. Construct a timeline of events to showcase the impact of the Industrial Revolution on the United States.

Project Description

Students will demonstrate an understanding of how technological advances between 1785 -- 1835 impacted trade, settlement patterns and economic growth in the United States. They will construct a timeline and write an essay following analysis of the information.

Timeline Description

Students will create a timeline including advancements in technology in the United States between 1785 -- 1835. They will include the events specified by the teacher as well as 5 additional gathered by their research.

Project Checklist:

___ Timeline spans the years 1785 - 1835
___ Scale should be 1 inch = 5 years
___ Must include a minimum of 12 events
___ Each event must have a 1-sentence explanation
___ Each event must have an appropriate illustration
___ Title should be "Advancements in Technology of the United States: 1785 - 1835"
